Hi,
It Happened that yesterday I was searching, and I found this site, I decided to dig about the subject, and I had a similar problem, oops Did I say, I had?
Yes that's right, so I decided after many tries to make that my vista system recognize the dvd drive, which even with a dvd in the drive could not be recognized, and I just received a message that said "Insert blanc cd or DVD , so every time was the same, so I decided to change the CD ROM driver, I went to my old parts and I found another CD DVD driver, so I change it,. so, as soon as I Started my PC that my system was loaded, I inserted a DVD , and it was Recognize

Base on my solution, if any of you has a similar Problem, don't waste your time trying to update your driver, that maybe this is damage like mine, so the solution is change it, even My PC is a Sony VAIO and I noticed that every time I wanted to Burn any file etc, it used to accelerate and I felt it forced when burning a cd or dvd and that was before the cd dvd rom got damage, yesterday after I change it, I noticed that does not accelerate anymore and it is smooth, with the new driver, this situation told me that the old factory driver had something wrong that was causing the system not working right..
Maybe yours has a similar problem,, I hope that this help to solve your problem..

Ok I had this problem, Put blank dvd in drive, on My Computer just says "Cd Drive" and tells you that you need to format it or it isn't recognized. Well I found a solution.

Download MagicIso (Just google it)
Open it up.
Now towards the bottom double click your dvd drive that the disc is currently in.
It should ask you to give it a name and then it will format it.
Then you can access it from my computer.

Worked for me and I hope it works for you! smile.gif
