When I start my windows ME computer I get a blue screen with a message that is "While initializing device SAVRT" " Windows protection error. You need to restart your computer. System failed."

When I restart my computer it starts with a black and white screen that gives me choices to start in safe mode and normal. The only choice that does anything is safe mode. When I click on safe mode the 'help' window comes up.

I found in the archives that I should delete the Symantec Norton program. When I try to delete the norton program I get a message that says I have to do this task in 'normal' mode -

I've also tried to delete the norton in the startup list however it won't do that either.
HELP,
Jim

Welcome to BC
Not sure if this will work, it depends what version you have
Norton Removal Tool
If not, here's a fix for your error. Note it says you may have to run it more than once

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around
