Important Announcement: We have two terrific contests running on the site that I wanted all our members and guests to know about.

The first contest is the HP Magic Giveaway, which is underway as of November 28th. More information can be found at this topic, which will be updated very soon with further information.

The second contests, is for the chance to win two Seagate FreeAgent external hard drives. More information about this contest can be found here.

Don't know if it's what you're looking for, but here's one you can check out:
Sun's Solaris 10

Well solaris is considered a Linux distro. I didn't think so when i first saw it, but i have read that online.
I don't believe there is a free OS other than linux distros because well 1 i don't know of really any other than Linux, Mac, and Windows and 2 Linux is open source, so i believe any other free OS would also have to be open source (making another linux distro)

Actually, Solaris and Linux are derived from Unix, as is BSD.

There are quite a few others; Jnode, Haiku, Inferno, Minix, etc.
