okay well simply put i deleted the drive somehow.. when i access my computer there is only HD device and the DVD CD rom drive D:\ disappeared. Im using a toshiba satellite L20.
The drives in the add hardware wizard have a, "!" mark in a round yellow sign, next to them.
1) Devices are SCIVAX DVD /CD-ROM SCSI Cdrom Device.
2) MATbleepA DVD-RAM UJ-841S
Both of these devices i think are missing drivers but i have no idea how to get them back.

What operating system are you using? Windows XP?
This should work on all versions of windows, but some of the titles might be different:
Right click the devices -> Properties
Click the Driver tab
Click Update driver.
If asked to allow access to Windows update, connect to the internet and allow access.
Follow the wizard and see what happens

SCIVAX DVD /CD-ROM SCSI
looks like drive emulation/virtual drive

unmount with the software used to install it, maybe even remove the software(alcohol/clone/whatever)

uninstall the real optical drive from device manager, reboot

Im using XP service pack 2.. the device, matash*ta shows no new hardware updates available. I unmounted the virtual drive with alcohol now. I rebooted, but its still has the corrupt sign on the Matash*ta. would it be a good idea to rollback instead of update and then update?

Need to beg/borrow/whatever a bootable cd, real xp cd is one, if the drive won't boot to it, then we know it's bad

Is the drive/laptop still under warranty?
