I am not good with computers. Pls kindly assist. When I turn on my PC, it begins to reboot when it reaches the log in page. Then it proceeds to reboot many times. I don't know what is wrong and I don;t know how to fidn out what is wrong. Pls kindly assist. Thank You. |

Hi,
Is there another way. I don't understand most of the article and don't know what applies to my problem. Now everytime I start my PC, I receive an with blue background. I have to restart the PC so many times in order to get it to finally work. Pls kindly assist. Thank You. |

Can you boot into safe mode? If you can go to My computer, right click on it, > Properties, >Advanced, >Startup and Recovery. Under System Failure uncheck Automatically Reboot. This should stop the reboots if it is a software problem and should leave an error message. If you see an error message please post it back here.

Thanks for your reply. I have done as you suggested. When I turned on the PC, I get an error message that says the following: "A problem has been detected & windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. FRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart yr computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps: Check to make sure any new hardware & software is properly installed. If this is new installation, ask yr hardware or software manufacturer for any windows update you might need. If problems continue, disable or remove any installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart yr computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup options & then select Safe Mode. Technical Infor: STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005), 0x8057B8EI, 0xF1A7CC58, 0x0000000 Beginning dump pf physical memory Physical memory dump complete Contact yr System Administrator or Technical Support group for further assistance" FYI: (1) This problem of PC rebooting many times has been going on for months. (2) I don't know what is BIOS & how to perform it Thank you in advance. |

Check your devices in Device Manager (Start > Run > type "devmgmt.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter). What you're looking for is any red "X" or yellow "!" symbols.

Does it say what these devices are, or does it just say unknown? If you know what the devices are, try updating the drivers for those devices.

Hi,
I have since remove the unknown device. I have check and no other device has a '?' or '!'. I had disabled 1 device. But the error message still appears when I turn on the PC. Pls kindly advise. Thank You. |

OK...you need to understand this.
Removing a device...doesn't really solve any problems. XP just redetects that device on the next boot and you wind up with the same situation you thought you cured by removing it in XP. You need to find out what those unknown devices are...which is why I provided that link...and then download/install the drivers for said devices...if you want XP to be happy  .A happy XP doesn't generate error messages such as the one you currently get. Using Unknown Device Identifier...when I click Find Driver or Contact Vendor, a list is churn out on Google. How do I know which one to use? My apologies but I really don't much about computers. Currently, there are 2 unknown device: (1) Ethernet Controller (unknown) (2) Unknown Device Driver Vendor: Microsoft PnpID: usb/unknown Thank You |

the USB ports and Network Adapter drivers are needed. means Network Adapter and motherboard drivers will need to be located.
is this a brand name pc or custom built? |
