My son's asus laptop won't charge or recgarge.....took it to best buy they said adapter and battery are fine...we suspect motherboard problems? any other suggestions as to what might be the problem....he is in college and I hate to send it back...but, that looks like the only solution unless someone here is ultra smart and can help us.....

The DC power jack on the laptop can go bad. That's the first thing to suspect when the adapter/charger and battery check out OK. With everything plugged in, wiggle the plug at the jack and see if any LED's flicker. Not that I don't trust Best Buy but do you have a local mom'n pop repair shop where you can get a second opinion? They're more used to troubleshooting laptops where BB just want to sell you a new one. I'm not familiar with Asus laptop's you might want to check the switch for the lid.

why won't my laptop work?

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around

well if the ac adapter and battery were checked out, I would expect them to check the plug as well. I think the charging circuit is dead, and if it's under warranty, get it fixed, if not, look at getting another laptop.

If the power connector on the Motherboard is bad you should be able to find a repair shop that can replace it. There not really that expensive (the part anyways). Any electronics repair shop should be able to do it.
