 Ok, when playing games my sounds starts to skip and comp freezes for about 15 secs only to pop back and returns to normal, Then about a minute after it starts with the skipping and then freezes only to return working.. have reinstalled everything only to find it still locks up. First thought it was modem ..I play a on line multi player game happened so much I got a new INTERNET provider still didn't fix it.. bought a new Modem, nothing still acting nutty. So I bought a systems mechanic disk.. Ok, by now you know I know very little about computers. I reinstalled as I said above and installed a offline game and it still haunts me. If anyone has the time to mess with a newbie any help would be very cool thank you for your time.

Well yes and no, I have updated my vid card and direct X 9.0c and thats about it not sure what else I can update without making a mistake and killing all hope of returning to the world of online games..
me poor ...  One mistake and I am takin TV from wife to play the xbox. What other drivers are safe to update I notice alot of my drivers like cpu and things I am to afraid to touch, have real old drivers.Also I dont know what all this stuff means but I d/l Everest program. If there is any info that will help I will try to post it

Here are a couple of things you might want to do:
1. Close as many applications as you can before launching the game. 2. Make sure you have set your on-line game options for "best performance." Is your video card and RAM sufficient to play the game, and has this problem just started, or is it a continual problem? I have gotten the most recent driver for Vid card .. didnt help changed vid card to another slot someone had told me if vid card and modem shared IRQ it could cause problems and I have D/L almost every spyware and program that I can to help. but still no fix. thank you for takin time to respond Dan |

It still acts silly lol ..well I see my little game machine is going to take the ol dirt nap. Any Idea what site is the best to help me build a cheap I mean cheap comp ? any aid will be rockin thank you for your time..

I don't see anthing in your hardware configuration that should prevent your playing the game, although if the problem started after installing a new video card, that would indicate some sort of problem there. If so, this is beyond my little hardware expertise.
You might want to start a new thread in the hardware forum about building a computer for gaming, or take a look at some of the suggestions there. Can you play a reasonably graphics intenstive game that is NOT on-line? If so, it may be a connectivity problem...... Have tried the off line game thing.. Wish I would have before I bought a new modem .. It still effects the game.. I did try to defrag and it stopped telling me I had physical damage to drive now would that cause it? Don't laugh this computer has sent me hundreds of error reports since I turned it on for the first time.
So I came to the forums If it is a hard drive issue how would I replace I am certain I could hook it up but the OS all I got when I bought the poop machine was a recovery disk would that install windows xp? Forgive my Newbie questions and incorrect spelling

Some time when you do not need your computer for a long time, run scandisk and have it check for surface errors (this could take a LONG time if you have a large HD), as well as other errors (make sure auto fix is checked, too). Report back with the results.
