Hello adyjob and welcome.gif to Bleeping Computer.

Combofix is a very powerful tool, and should only be used under the supervision of an experienced person (such as the good folks in our HJT team). I have read several posts on this forum from people who have totally hosed their system through incorrect use of this tool.

If you're fighting a malware infection you could do one of two things:

1. Post a topic in the Am I infected? What do I do? forum with a description of your problem.

2. Post a HJT Log (Preparation Guide for use before posting a HijackThis Log).

Budapest is correct. You should NOT use Combofix unless you have been instructed to do so by a Malware Removal Expert. It is intended by its creator to be used under the guidance and supervision of an expert, not for private use. Using this tool incorrectly could lead to disastrous problems with your operating system such as preventing it from ever starting again.

How can combofix hose your system exactly if used incorrectly? it has two options, run or cancel, not exactly rocket science is it?

Plus the guy asked why had it expired and twice you didnt answer him!!

To the original poster, there is currently a problem with combofix and its date verifcation.

Combofix has a built-in time out (expiration) feature which is there for protection against using outdated versions.

How can combofix hose your system exactly if used incorrectly?

Discussion pertaining to how Combofx works, what it can or cannot do is not avaible to the public in order to safeguard and protect the integrity of the tool from malware writers. ComboFix's disclaimer clearly states that it is a private tool. My warning in regards to possible disastrous results when it is used outside the guidance and supervision of an expert stands without further explanation.
