I traded for the osx disk, it'll be m loss, not theirs. they need a responsive system and this has too much preloaded crap and no way to uninstall it. all the need is Pidgin, Firefox, Thunderbird, and OO. the rest of the stuff osx loads is useless and with no way to uninstall it as waste of space.

Actually, I completely understand your frustration. It just reminds me of the phrase "throwing out the baby with the bathwater".

she asked me something else, how come when she clicks the x in the upper left the program does not close out completely? I have not found a way to adjust it. she's going to wait for me to replace it with Fedora till next week, but wants it to work her way till then.

The only ways to completely close most programs is to either use the "Quit" option in the applications drop-down menu, or to just simply press Apple+Q on the keyboard. A few simple applications completely close when you x out of them.

thanks. I will let her know, I thought OSx was supposed to be better, so far it's less user friendly than Windows 1.0 was.

If youve never used it before, it seems like hell. I remember the first time I used OSX. I hated it. It just takes getting used to.

well, the lack of user control and confgurability is not something I'd get used to. I like being able to adjust things my way, I guess the mentality of jobs is that people that buy his stuff are not smart enough to adjust it or upgrade or fix it themselves.

Umm... who's computer did you say this was?
Dashboard only takes up 80 KB of disk space. If you, she, whoever needs additional 80 KB of HDD space, I would suggest they upgrade the internal drive or buy a firewire external drive and load OSX to it without the bundled applications and run it from there. Actually I think the mentality of Jobs is to irk people that buy his stuff that are not smart enough to adjust to OSX. |
