BleepingComputer.com: Problematic Vista

I've made a post about this before, but now it went from a major irritant to debilitating. For some odd reason the task bar at the bottom of the screen shifts to the left and the computer freezes and becomes unusable. Below I've posted what the computer looks like when it's working properly, and what happens when the task bar becomes messed up. I really need this problem fixed. i've look online for a problem such as mine, and I've yet to find one. As you can see the taskbar is completely unusable in this form.

Hi,,, looks like it keeps putting your home page up,,, google..... if you have a spyware program ,, update & system scan,,, also download superantispyware free,, update it then boot in safe mode & scan your system,,, download it from here

it could be you have a trojan & it's trying to connect to the net,,, run these just incase,,,

Have you tried going to properties and switching the taskbar and/or the start menu to classic mode? If you can do that maybe you can poke around and figure out what is causing this.

IMO this is most likely either a virus/malware issue. The next most likely issue would be corruption of something related to Windows Explorer.

After the malware scans shut down all programs except for those necessary to duplicate this problem (to include those in the system tray/notification area), and then try Process Explorer (free here: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysintern...ssExplorer.mspx ) to see what's happening under the hood of explorer.exe If you can't identify exactly what's going on there, post back with what's running under explorer.exe in the main screen and then right click on explorer.exe, select Properties, then the Threads tab and let us know what threads are running.

FYI - in my recently repaired Vista Ultimate installation (without updates) there are 29 separate threads running (some have similar or duplicated names). But I've got at least 20 separate programs running under explorer.exe at this time.
