Dos Prompt In Vista

Just curious goin want to boot up vista with only dos cause i want to run an offline defrag anyone know how to reboot in dos mode??? I know i can get it with the start button just curious if i can get it offline on the startup

Hi, there is no DOS in Vista but you can open a command prompt by typing cmd in the start/search field in Vista.

I think that you can get it by pressing F8 as Windows first starts to boot. There should be a Safe Mode with Command Prompt option there.

Yes you should be able to get it with F8 on boot, and I know theres one in the accessories off start menu, and Ive found its one of the only ways to get to regedit as well.. IE Start, Programs, Accessories

Yes I have checked now and a dos prompt is available both ways in vista.
