Vista Login:user Name Or Password Is Incorrect Vista login won't accept password

I have tried searching all vista posts and cannot find anything close to what I need. My Vista computer shows the login screen with the user and when I type in the password I get :User name or password is incorrect. I wrote down the password and type it in exactly but vista gives me the same message every time. I do not have a password reset disk.

are you sure you don't have caps lock on or a stuck key?

Thanks for the reply-
I disconnect the vista drive SATA cable and connect a second different drive with a SATA cable and XP and it runs fine on the same hardware. I do not believe it is a hardware problem. I have and my wife has tried every combination with caps on and off.

I fixed it! I used the Vista CD and went to system restore. I went back to the first resore point. Upon reboot the computer accepted the password. I am using it now to post this message. :huh:
