Im planning to give my 72 yr old dad a slightly used USB 2.0 digital camera of mine, the computer my dad is using is an old IBM pentium 166 system running on windows 98SE. I plann to install a USB PCI adapter card to my dads system and because of the obsolence of my dads system I assumed that a 1.0/1.1 USB adapter card has a better chance of working in a pentium 166 system. But im wondering......will a USB 2.0 Digital camera suppose to work on a USB 1.0/1.1 ports?.......or should i go with the USB 2.0 PCI adaapter card instead?.....can a pentium 166 systenm handle a USB 2.0 PCI adapter card? PS: I was able to install and run the camera's software with the pentium 166 despite the fact that the manual requires a min. pentium233 processors. its a little slow..... but it runs. Im hoping to be able to download the pictures from the camera also; without having me or my dad buy a new system. |

I don't think your MoBo will support USB 2.0.
You're a little bit behind the eight ball with a P1 166 system. You will most probably be able to download some pics but it will be very slooooow. Thats why they say to use a min of 233. How much RAM do you have at the moment. Is it EDO or pc100 ? -------------------- JTH
