What games are you trying to use? Built in Vista Games? or some third party
title? This is important to setting the association which may or may not work.
This error is common for corrupted pieces of software.

Personally I might try setting the association from the command line rather than
the control panel applet.

Let us know what game youŽre trying to use and weŽll go from there.

All third party games including games for windows. every title brings up the same "set associations" error message when I try to run through Games.

What is the name of the file listed in the title bar of the error window (actually, what we're looking for is the file extension)? It's the last part of the message that starts...C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\GameExplorer\{C1238AE7-2E3

If you can't locate it in the Window, try going to Event Viewer to see the latest errors (it's probably in the Application error log, but I'd also check in the System log to be sure). To do this, go to Start and type in "eventvwr.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter - then expand the category for Windows logs on the left to see the different logs.
