Main home PC is downstairs connecting to the internet through ethernet connection to BT Home Hub system.

MY PC is upstairs connecting to hub via wireless NETGEAR WG311T

whenever my car is parked in the drive with alarm on, my wireless connection ceases, the main pc connection is fine.

when the car is not there or alarm is left off connection is perfect.

can anyone explain why this may be and also how i can avoid it

I´m impressed Sir, I haven´t come accross this one until now.

The likely problem is that the remote alarm system in the vehicle is
operating on the same frequency as your wireless network. First, find out
what channel your wireless network is operating on. Usually this setting
is set to auto, and could change from time to time.

It´s possble to give your network a Static channel ergo assigning a specific Frequency to the
network. That being said, you need to contact the manufacturer of you Carś alarm system
and find out if this is a ¨Known" problem and ask what can be done to remedy this issue.

They may be able to change the frequency so that it no longer interferes with your wi-fi
network. So, Contact your Car alarm´s mfgr and pleasantly explain your issue.
Hopefully this helps.

Good Luck Sir.
