My only pair of headphones shorted out on me today neither ear bud works unless you push on the cord just right and then its only one of them. I wanted to know if anyone knew a way to fix them with out just replacing the all together?

How good are you with a soldering iron, a very small tip and magnified visors? Even then it's probably a roll of the dice. The connection inside the buds are breaking down

why won't my laptop work?

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around
Do not send me PMs with problems that should be posted in the forums. Keep it in the forums, so everyone benefits

These type of items were never intended to be repairable by anyone.

Save your time and exasperation and just buy a new unit.
You could spend many hours trying to find the problem.
The only easy day was yesterday.
