Try turning off error reporting so we can see what the error is that you're getting
Here's how to do that

Just curious, why did you try compatibility mode? Is this an early version of the program? Is this installation from a CD or downloaded off the net? I would try to uninstall the program then run the Windows Installer cleanup utility then reinstall the program while in safemode. See if that helps

Um tried to use the compatibility mode because it is a very old program and the box it came in had Windows 98, as the top system. When it did not work I wondered if it was a compatibility problem.
It is an installation from a cd.
I tried the windows installer clean up, but the program does not display on the index once the cleanup runs.
Any other ideas would be most welcome

Xp's compatibility mode isn't the greatest. I doubt if you'll get it to run right. The company's changed hands so many times and no one bothered to update it

Different drivers might be a factor, unless all 3 machines are exactly the same

Be sure to browse through our freeware applications replacements. There might be something there that might help you
