Compaq Proliant 5500 Server Need some help on lights and dip switches on Mobo

So I recently got this Dual PIII Xeon Compaq proliant Server from the local cable company. when I plug it in I get a light on the power supply and diag lights on the MOBO. I have no Idea what any of this means. There are no SCSI drives in it but shouldn't it still post to "error"? Any help would be appreciated. Just let me know what anyone needs and I'll do my best to get you that info.

Can you give us the model number from the data plate on the computer? It should be something like 234234-001

Could you be more specific on where i can find this number? I see lots of numbers all over this thing.
he closest one that looks right is 329366-001
but there is also 928304-005-00
and 304461-001
306348-001
this one is right off the mobo 328669-001
i hope one of these is right if not let me know where to look

Just found the main page in the HP BUSINESS AND SUPPORT center for the server. The first thing to do is find the clock battery and remove it for 1 minute. Once you have it out and replaced, you should receive video out to a regular monitor again. Is this the correct server?

Thats the 5500R mines the 5500 but its the same beast the "R" just means rack mount.

The only battery I can find is soldered to a pullout board. nothing on the main board, unless it's buried under a heatsink. I've already pulled that board out and nothing happend. As a matter of fact I've taken the whole tower apart and put it back together and its still doing the same thing. Light on power supply, light on pullout board, diag lights on motherboard are all amber. this means nothing to me. anyone have any clue?

Lights should be green. time to replace the Power supply Ebay link to ps They seem to be inexpensive.

So it looks like it was a processor error. Not seated properly. I have no scsi drives installed but i did install an ide drive. how can i get it to boot from optical drive to install winxp on it? Or can i even install XP on it?

How do you get into the bios? Is there a certain key sequence i need to push?

BIOS Key is {F10} It must be pressed when you see the blinking square in the upper right corner of the screen. I can only find support for Windows NT Server, 2000 Server and 2003 Server. You could try XP Pro, but no support is listed on the Hardware Compatibility List at MS

Keyboard does not initialize fast enough to hit {f10}. After it reports processors and memory it brings up a message Non-System disk or disk error replace and strike any key when ready. I can boot from the Xp disk but i never reads the hdd so it just keeps installing win xp over and over. Any suggestions?
