New Member Group: Members Posts: 7 Joined: 6-December 04 Member No.: 6,529	[size="3"][/size][font="Lucida Console"][/font] I am transferring files from my old pc to my new pc. I have written the fles to a cd-rw disc and attempted to download them using my HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4481B without much success. The drive does not seem to be able to read the CD-RW and the only response I get is a clicking noise similar to a floppy drive when a disc is being loaded. The only way I am able to stop this is by using ctrl-alt-del which stops the drive but also clears my desktop icons. This is restored when I remove the cd-rw from the drive. I have no problems with either a dvd or audio cd-rom in the same drive. I am using Windows XP Pro.

I'm not totally familiar, in fact almost have no knowledge of the best discs to use CD-R CD-RW etc. The drive which I am using on my new system reads CD-R and DVD no problem. Can you suggest how I might write the files to disc for transfer to my new set up?
