Can Not Burn On To Dvd-r

I recently tried to burn all my pictures on to new DVD-R and when I go to burn it it tells me the is no disc. Do I need some driver upgrade or firmare updates and where do I find these?

What make and model is your drive. Make sure that it is not a DVD+R. Most new drives will do both formats but older ones are picky.

I have a dell laptop new last year. It is supposed to be a DVD/CD burner. I can burn to CD-R but the DVD-R I get an error and it won't burn. It is like it doesn't even recognize that there is a disc in the E: drive.
