My friend played a joke on me by setting a screen shot of my desktop as my background and ending the explorer.exe process. I just opened control panel and started a new explorer.exe process but when i did the start menu reverted to a windows 98-ish theme. I've tried many things to get it back to the vista style, and I have found nothing that works. I've had this done to me a couple of times when I used XP on my desktop and everything worked fine. I'm not sure what to do at this point.
