The the restore CD will erase everything from the HDD, So be careful and if necessary try to backup the data first, then just insert the recovery CD, thats what I have done in the past.
If all else fails, hit the reset button.

Hi chasleroy and welcome to BleepingComputer.

What is the reason that you want to use the recovery disk?

What operating system are you using?

If XP have you tried doing a last known good configuration?

Toshiba has designed their recovery disks as an "image" - and as such will erase everything on your hard drive when you use it.

To use it, follow the directions on the CD case that it came in. In general it says:
1) Insert the CD
2) Turn the system off
3) Press and hold the "C" key
4) Turn the computer on (continuing to hold the "C" key)
5) When the Toshiba screen shows up you can let go of the "C" key
