What kind of check do you need to do on your hard drive? If you want to run a diagnostic test you can normally download one of these from the website of the drive manufacturer. It won't matter if the disk has Windows, DOS or anything else on it. You could also try using a UBCD, which has several drive diagnostic tools on it.
As for the BIOS question, you can ask in the Hardware forum. Edit: Added link to UBCD. This post has been edited by Budapest: Oct 15 2007, 08:15 AM -------------------- Stupidity has a knack of getting its way.

I agree with Budapest on downloading a diagnostic utility from your drive manufacturer. You could also use the scandisk utility built into DOS from version 6.2.
More details found here. http://www.computerhope.com/software/scandisk.htm -------------------- JC

If it is a true DOS machine, I believe that it uses chkdsk instead of scandisk. (been a long time since I used dos)
At the c: prompt type: chkdsk /f This does the same thing as scandisk in windows. |
