I've got a system running Outlook 2003.
Will be installing a second system running Outlook 2007.
Can I copy the Outlook.pst file from 2003 to the 2007 system, or will I have to export/import?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Boopme -
Yes, the Outlook 2007 will be on a Vista PC, while the 2003 is on XP.
I don't see why this would make a difference, though, unless the Outlook files are different between the OS's?

hi JohnWho, While I was looking I saw some references to the XP/vista switching and some problenms, turned into nothing much more than files too big and per mission. And as I don't use Vista yet I wanted to be sure of what I was looking at.
Seems copy would be better.
If you get a permissions error message when opening the pst file, check the file
attributes and make sure it is not set to "Read-only".

Got it, thanks. I'll watch for that.
So far, the way I understand it, the outlook.pst file is the same for OL 2003 and 2007, so I'll be able to copy it over.
I'm just wondering if anyone has done it, and whether there are any other problems that they have encountered.

Tools - Account Settings - Data Files. There you will see
where the default pst file was created. Just copy your "old" pst file there.
You might have to rename it so as not to overwrite the one that is already
there. Then (from that same place you saw the pst file location) click on
"Add" to add your pst file. Another method is to click File - Open - Outlook
Data File and browse to your pst file to open it. Either way works.
