HiHo Folks,
Following advice I found off-site I made my first change to a subkey using the Registry Editor, and I need to ask a question or two about what the change actually effected.
Any ideas which Forum would be most appropriate?

Try posting the question in the forum for your operating system.

Hi Fart,
That would've been my first guess too, but I've been seeking assistance from that Forum with no replies to previous Registry or RegEdit queries (albeit slightly buried as opposed to a Main Topic). So I'm reluctant to annoy these good folks any further.
What about the Software Forum?

If you are using a special application to make changes to your registry, then the All Other Applications Forum might be the place to post. Be sure, though, to include the application name in the Topic Description. If you are making manual changes, then post in the forum for your operating system.

OK, thanks John - it's back to the Windows 2000 forum for me 
I'm beginning to feel sorry for these guys, they must be getting fed up with the problems and amount of attention my old eBeast requires.
Someone needs to invent a disposable computer for doing limited but specific things! One that costs <100 bucks, recycleable after a year or two and replace or update for free to <10 bucks. They'd probably put Microsoft out of business (or make even more money to give 3rd World Countries a genuinely helping hand). Just a thought! And if this statement inspires you to act, I claim 20% of your annual profits.

You'd be surprised what people throw away. I've fixed up 2 computers out of the trash plus parts for many repairs
