It's still only 14 legs.

you must be a optimist
....(Murphy was a optimist) I'm a pessimist ...
It would seem obvious to me that they were present , only seven schoolgirls on a bus , with no school boys ? the reason... no room left because of the bags full of cats . If I was told "there's a nutjob in the parking lot and he "has" a large kitchen knife", I would prepare to deal with such a situation as if it was on his person at the time and not as if he left it at home
and lets face it, don't all nutjobs keep large kitchen knives at home ?
(I have several including non-kitchen types as well )

there are 10,990 legs inside the bus.
- There is a bus with 7 girls inside (7x2=14 legs)
- Each girl (7) has 7 bags, Inside each bag, there are 7 Big cats (7x7x7=343; 343x4=1,372 legs)
- Each Big cat (343) has 7 small cats (343x7=2,401; 2,401x4=9,604 legs)
14 + 1,372 + 9,604 = 10,990 legs
Congrats to all who got it right
(I got it on the second try, I hate math
)
Do you think Schrodinger's cat would be alive today, if it could think outside the box?

Bold Red mine.
I didn't have my glasses on, and read the calculator as 1342 instead of 1372! Duh!

A simple math question that made my brain hurt for a few minutes
(no cats or schoolgirls were harmed in this exercise )
A school bus has seven schoolgirls inside ,
Each girl has seven bags ,
Each bag has seven big cats in it ,
Each big cat has seven little cats
(assume there are no amputees )
How many legs are in the bus ? ( there is no bus driver , I think the reason is obvious
)
I will post the correct answer later or you can pm me if you want

See, if we "assume" that the girls have the bags, but not with them, then much of our thinking is seriously altered.
Bank robber - "I have a gun."
Bank teller - "Me too."
Bank robber - "Did youi bring yours with you?"
Bank teller = "Uh, no."
Bank robber - "Me neither. See you tomorrow."
On the other hand, "legs" is also not specific enough. Are we counting girl legs, cat legs, or both? But wait, do the seats of the bus have legs? What about them? Which leg of the bus trip are they on? Even though the bus driver is not on the bus, do we know whether he or she has an a friend with an artificial leg and was transporting it to them on the bus? Nowhere in the question does it say whether anyone else other than the girls are on the bus. Besides possible school boys, were the girl's mothers, fathers, friends, etc. on the bus? Was anyone on the bus also carrying a table, stool, chair, etc.? That would also add to the number of legs.
And, most importantly, how many pounds of cat litter was on the bus?
