The problem we have is that when we try to enable the LAN is says connection failed. All the IP addresses are set and correct. The machine is 150 miles away from me and the user is not very pc literate. Can anyone give any ideas as to how I can get the lan to connect? It is an XP machine Thanks |

What kind of router? Is it a t1 router? Is the router plugged into a switch and the computers are plugged into that switch? Is there a dhcp server or are ip address assigned statically to the machines?

It is a Cisco 803 router that is plugged into an ISDN line. Two pc's are plugged into the router one of which is working fine.
IP addresses are assigned to the machines. The problem seems to be with the pc rather than the router. We have also checked all the cabling and have found it to be working. |

Check the WORKGROUP under NETWORK PROPERTIES . They have to have the same name . This is commonly over looked .
