my problem is that it is not reading blank cd-rs or blank dvd-rs
i put in a regular cd and it reads fine

any help please
i tried the my sonic record now and to no avail
same thing with the windows media player burner
i went to my computer and usually the drive icon says what type of media is in there but it says nothing

I am pretty sure that's a LG/HLDS GWA-4164B

http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2279

the forums are full of problems with those drives and dell computers?

mostly

1. the drive is dying

but in a lot of cases it's software/driver problems

2. filter drivers are corrupt, especially sonic's
Chewy

No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try.
