hey guys, the dvd player on my gateway laptop keeps skipping when I watch movies. The picture will freeze for half a second and come back, continuously doing this. I know it's not my disc because it does it to more than one orginal movie. What's wrong?

What player are you using? The lens could be dirty. There's a cleaning disk that has little brushes on it that spin against the lens. Here's a checklist

why won't my laptop work?

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around

Try shutting down all open programs, the stuff in the Notification Area (AKA the System Tray - the stuff down by the clock), and maybe even some of the processes in the Processes tab of Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del). Then try the movies again - if they're OK then, it's just too much stuff running to allow the system to process it all.

Usasma read my mind I was thinking you may be running into a memory problem. How much does the computer have? and what are you running on the machine?
