I have noticed that the Bleeping Computer Combofix link appears to be broken.

When I click it I get:

404 Not Found
The requested URL '/sUBs/ComboFix.exe' was not found on this server.
thttpd/2.25b 29dec2003

Other users have also told me, they are having the same problem.

Also, this alternative link doesn`t work either.

Does anyone know what the problem is and when it`s likely to be fixed?

Regards Howard.

The developer (sUBs) has removed ComboFix from all locations due to a problem with the program.

No word on how long, its down indefinitely.

I have yet to see any details released to the general public by the developer or anyone else, i don't want to be the first to do so. Im sure sUBs will let people know at some point, but im afraid i won't give any more info.

My source(s) also aren't available to the general public.

All the other public notices do don't give any info either, e.g http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=17284

Sorry i couldn't give any more info.

I can confirm that Combofix has been pulled from the public download links until further notice.

The reason has been provided in private discussion forums intended for trained malware fighting experts. As jpshortstuff said, no details have been released to the general public by the developer. If you have an existing version of Combofix, I recommend that you not use it.

FYI ComboFix has been put back up. Delete any old versions of ComboFix that you have.

Do NOT use this tool unless you have been instructed to do so by an Expert or Member of Staff. Its a powerful tool and not meant for use without supervision.

Yes, Combofix is intended to be used under the guidance and supervision of an expert, not for private use. Using this tool incorrectly could adversely impact your system and prevent it from ever starting again.
