Hide Sensitive Files In A Recycle Bin Decoy

Make a folder where you will store the files to be protected.

Move the files into the new folder.

Rename The Folder appending the following to the name:

.{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}

Now, whenever the folder gets opened, it shows the recycle bin! It even has the recycle bin's icon! To access your file, simple change the name back.

(PS the period (.) is essential, don't forget it!)

So, what does this do? Does this hide the files from viruses?

EDIT: Is this only for Windows?

You can also make a invisible folder.

go to new folder and for the name

hold ALT and type
0160
then go to properties and change the icon to be invisible

i renamed it but it would not go back to the original

there is something about the future, it changes anytime you look at it because you looked at it. And that changes everything else.

Lol, how do I rename it? I'm using Vista! Lol. I can't find the thing to show file extentions or anything.

Cool trick there mate - only one problem though........It can be deleted, where as the real RB can't!

Is there a way to protect it from deletion ??

That's a cool trick but when you add files to it, it just puts them in the recycle bin. so if someone emptys the recycle bin, there goes your "sensitive" files..

You have to rename it to something else to add/remove/access files. Emptying the Recycle Bin doesn't affect files that were added to the folder prior to renaming it.
