My sound only works when using certain programs (i.e. Bearshare) but when I go to like YouTube.com I can't hear any of the videos. How can I have sound for some things and not others?

This may be a stupid question but have you made sure the mute button is off, the volume is turned up both on the player and on the computer itself?
