Hi,

I have a couple quick questions about two files
I'm not sure what to do about.

1. Norton caught a file called retadpu572.exe.tmp
recently as a trojan. It couldn't delete it so
it quarantined it.

I did a search online but couldn't find any info
on this exact file name so I sent it to Symantec to
see what they said. I got an automated email response
saying it was an non-repairable threat and I should
delete it and replace the file if necessary.

Do I need to replace this file or can just tell
Norton to delete it and forget about it? I'm assuming
I don't have to replace it but I thought I should
check before I just start deleting things.

2. I found a file (that wasn't there before)
called syscofv.exe on my C:\ drive. Does anyone
know what this is? I'm guessing it's not suppose
to be there but again a web search turned up nothing.
Should I just delete this file or is it nothing
to worry about?

I'm running Windows XP (if that matters).

Thanks,
- Phil

When I do a Google search for retadpu572.exe I get a bunch of hits related to malware, so I think it's safe to assume that this is bad.

When I searched for syscofv.exe I got no information. Upload the file at Jotti for analysis and post back the results.
The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who haven't got it.
