Well first off, I'm using Kubuntu 7.04. I also have a Windows XP installed, and I planned for it to be a dual-boot, but something happened (might've accidentally overwritten a partition, I don't know,) so now Windows won't boot. I tried all sorts of boots like debugging mode, safe mode, all came up with the same blue screen of death. So I feel like getting rid of Windows completely so my Kubuntu has more space. Windows won't boot anyways.

So, how do I use GNOME Partition Editor without accidentally deleting everything on my computer?

look for the partition that is fat or NTFS. Linux does not use these, they will be your windows installation. You may safely delete these partitions and afterwards, expand your adjacent partitions to take up the leftover space.

one question. do you have a (/home) partition yet? if not now would be the time to set one up saves you from having to reinstall your files when you upgrade or try another distro

Yes, I remember that my old Win98 computer's C:/ properties had a FAT32 name.

What kind of Filesystem should my /home partition be?

Not sure. I use the GParted Live CD to alter my partitions (had to use it once and since I've got it lying around I use it instead of installing on my distro (also keeps the g/f from messing with it)

/home should be an ext3 file system

Actually, I have another question. The /dev/sda1 partition (NTFS) has the flag "boot". What exactly does this mean?

Fun,fun,fun.........that means your MBR is located in the Windows partition. I'm not sure on how to move or put it elsewhere

Ah well, too bad. I'm not really sure what the Master Boot Record does anyways, I'll go look it up.
