hey im not too sure if this is in the right place but aaages ago when i had spycrush on my computer.. And i was going through control panels add/remove programmes and i somehow deleted my sound. okay when i try to play something it comes up with ....Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file. (Thats in windows media player)
everything else it says can't open output audio device.. I really want sound now and ive tried downloading stuff but it just wont work and i really dont know what to do.
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks!

Set windows to show hidden files,
How to see hidden files in Windows
Then navigate to:
C:\ Windows \ System32 \ dllcache
Locate sndvol32.exe
Right click it, and select Copy.
Navigate to C:\ Windows \ System32
In an open area, right click and select Paste

If Windows says the file already exists, do you want to replace it, select Yes

Reboot

Hi Shana.

Quote

everything else it says can't open output audio device

Start by checking that your audio driver is installed and the correct playback device is selected.
To check the driver, Open Device Manager. Under "Sound, Video & Game Controllers" there should be no splats next to any of the entries indicating a conflict. If there is, you'll need to re-install the drivers.
To check the prefered audio playback device, open Control Panel > Sounds and Audio. Click the "Audio" tab.
Playback device should match the Audio hardware listed in Device Manager.
If these are both correct, post back and we'll go from there.

Because i dont really get this im going to tell you what it says under the audio tab

forSound playback, default device it says : Modem #0 line playback

Sound recording, Default device: Modem #0 Line Record

and for MIDI Music Playback, Default Device:
No MIDI Playback devices also i cant click on the MIDI section because its all greyed out lol if that makes sense.

How do i reinstall the drivers do i need the disks for that? because i don't have them.

Thanks in advance and for helping me so far!

You were close
On the right front panel or back of the system there should be a sticker that shows "Type" & "S/N".
Need both of those.
