Low Mic Problem

Hello, im hoping that someone can help me. My mic volume is very very low. Ive turned up all the sound settings in both playback and recording and enabled the 20db boost and its still too low. Ive tried the same mic on another computer and it works fine. My sound is an onboard one. pleeease help!
