Laptop Reboots When The 'starting Windows' Appears

Hi all just a solved problem to share. I recently had a Packard Bell laptop that got very hot and would restart when the XP disk was loaded and the 'starting windows setup' prompt appeared.
I feel a bit of a doughnut for scratching my head for so long when all it turned out to be was that I was using the wrong power supply. However I have been fixing computers for 10 years and didn't know this.
Hope it may be of some help to someone in the future.

LOL! The funy thing is, is if it works and loads to that 'starting windows' point each time before it crashed you wouldn't assume it was the power supply. Well at least I didn't anyways!
Man I had the cpu out, the ram the mobo battery! LOL!
Never mind!
