BleepingComputer.com: Spam

I am getting a ton of spam that seems to becoming from people using my ISP . I wrote to my ISP about this and they say that their named was forged into the header information and that the spam email did originate from them.

My question is if I do a reply to the spam email ( not sending it of course) the return address is the same as the alleged forged name .

Does this make sense ?

If the header information is the same in the spam emails, set up the spam filter rules in your mail client to include this. That way it will be identified as spam.

If you use Outlook Express, have a look at Controlling Junk Mail in Outlook Express.

Also be sure not to open spam email.

The emails in question went to my spam file.

I want to report the spam ( if possible) to the originationg ISP.

My ISP told me despite the header information that the spam did not come from their network.

I still do not know how why if I reply to the email , why the return emails goes to the same IP I saw in the header

Many times, the header itself is forged.
