I have a Windows XP computer that has not had any sound for months. This doesn't bother me much but my kids would like it fixed. When I go to Control Panel / Sounds and Audio Devices Properties and select the "Volume" tab, it tells me I have "No Audio Device." If I select the "Audio" tab on this properties panel, the Sound Playback Default Device drop down lists only "Modem #0 Line Playback" as an option. Below that, there are no options at all under MIDI music playback default device.

Does this mean I have missing/corrupt software, or do I truly have a hardware problem? How do I figure this out??

Thanks for your help.
Tom

I don't think the driver is on there, but you have the sound capability. If it's a Dell, you can use the included Driver Reset Tool to replace the driver (if the driver had ever been installed). Just plug it in and it will guide you through the rest.
