I am intending on installing a light distro of Linux on my Compaq Presario notebook with a corrupt version of Windows. Before making the transfer I wanted to make sure it worked OK so I tried a Live CD.
I am using Xubuntu 7.04 for Intel 32-bit processors and generally speaking the Live CD works well. However I cannot get the Internet to work with either the built-in wireless or via a wired connection to my router. When I used a Live CD of Ubuntu 7.04 on my desktop with a wired connection to the router, the Internet worked normally within Firefox so I would like to resolve this issue before I go ahead and install it.
I have very limited experience with Linux at all and virtually none with networking under this OS so I need help configuring/troubleshooting this so that I can test surfing the internet.
Any advice is appreciated and thanks in advance.

I've managed to solve the first issue - was related to incorrectly configured wireless access point.
