BleepingComputer.com: Can I Buy Upgrade From Windows 98?

Howdy BC!
I am doing tech jobs for my aunt, and I am curious if I can purchase Windows Vista Home Basic Upgrade Edition and run it on a hard drive pre-installed with Windows 98SE.

I know the XP upgrade cutoff point was at Windows 98 (Windows 95 and lower had to buy the full edition), but what is the cutoff for Vista? I would think if Microsoft was smart, due to the 26% of Microsoft Windows 98SE users out there, they would allow it.

Indeed. However, we already have a Windows 98SE CD. I intend on installing 98 on the new computer, and then upgrading to Vista with the upgrade edition. I'm thinking about building my own computer. I might not, but it's good information to know, nonetheless.

Go look at the middle of this page from Microsoft©. I believe you need windows 2000 or later.

How To Perform A Clean Vista Install Using A Vista Upgrade Product Key. You don't need the 98 disc to install a upgrade of Vista.
