hi just starting up on my own as a computer repair business i have lots of experience with computers but none with web site building my limited budget does not cover the cost of getting someone to develop the site for me so i tried myself the site is www.comp-u-mend.co.uk any suggestions critisism or other useful tips or hints welcome.

I think for your business, this site works very well! The font size is a great size and the size of your site(width and length) is good as well. Just as you aren't sure what your viewers resolutions might be. I also like how you made all the links on the links page open in blank. I did find though that the last link does not and you might want to change that.

I do have one question though, the imagery you have on both sides of your header, did you find those on a free image site or did you grab those off of a google image search? If you did the latter, I'd recommend going to: http://www.sxc.hu It's a free stock photo site and I'm sure you could find some imagery there or try and google for some free stock photos.

For a few suggestions, I think on the main page, the line length should just be a little shorter and maybe the list of the things you do could be centered, maybe? Maybe even the shorter lines after that. You could try it out, I think both work, so you can make your decision on which is best.

I also want to congrat you on underscoring your file names, instead of using spaces!
