Hi, can anyone tell me the advantage to using an 80 pin IDE cable with UDMA switched on than a 40 pin with UDMA off please. Thanks for help in advance.

The 80 pin cable doesn't provide additional speed, but rather improves reliability and is required if you're going to use UDMA. And UDMA beats the pants off of PIO mode any day of the week!
