My USB Flash drive has stopped working all of a sudden!

It worked just fine the other day, but now doesn't.

When i plug it into a computer (any computer, tried several and the same thing happens), Device manager detects it, is shown on my computer etc and the remove hardware icon is shown on the system bar. But when i try to open it, it tells me to insert a disk into drive F.

I tried to format it, but it tells me there is no disk in the drive!!! I tried to backup the files on the USB, but the report said that the device wasn't responding.

I checked the status of the device, and it says that it is working properly. I also get the device installer icon on the system bar telling me that there was a problem installing the device and that it may not work properly.

Can anyone help?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but from what you said, sounds like it is dead.

They all eventually quit, just depends on how much the are used. Unplugging them without stopping the device can also shorten their life. Mine generally last about 18 months.
