Hi again.

Windows Media Player and PowerDVD lock up and freeze when I try to play DVDs on them.
I have Windows Media Player 11. When I go to file/tools/options, I try to click on the DVD tab and I get the "Windows Media Player has encountered a problem and needs to close". I get the same message when I try and just play a DVD on it. PowerDVD just locks up without showing an error.

Similarly, I can only hear sound for AVI files in media player.
Quicktime player plays MPEG-4 files fine.

The strangest thing is is that I have a player called VLC media player which seems to play everything including DVDs. But I would love to get media player working instead.

This is a new PC, and it has never worked. Thanks.

Edit- I should mention that my dvd drive firmware is up to date.
