I got this problem from my bro's PC via USB drive. He is trying to combat the same problem.

On startup avast blocks the following...

Infection Details

URL:    ```http```://copertps.com/a/
Process:    C:\Windows\System32\wscript.exe
Infection:    URL:Mal

(not the url is http not ```http``` . I put  ```http``` to stop the hyperlink)

After that i plug in my pendrive and i find...

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/l742wpyeuo55pkj/5taphJDd5P

When I open a shortcut in my pendrive (say "boot") it loads properly into the folder (say I:\boot)

I format my pendrive and add folders and the shortcuts come again.

When I hover my mouse over the windows update icons they disappear.

I scan my pc with super anti spyware. It finds viruses in my D drive (non OS drive) system volume information and i quarantine it.I then i try to run mbam and i end up having to run it through chameleon and when i scan it finds nothing.Scanned with avast next and it also finds nothing.

I end wscript.exe .All the problems go away. I can run mbam normally. the windows update problem goes away and when i format my pendrive and add folders the shortcut doesn't occur.

PS: the shortcuts in my pendrive point to

%COMSPEC% /C Start Wscript 070\i1a.js &Start EXPLORER.exe "{file name}"

({file name} is of course the name of the corresponding folder, say boot or HBCD or multiboot)

And interestingly, the ".disk" folder hasn't been affected (see dropbox photo).

I run Win 7 x64 SP1.

Thank You for your reply.

In my Task Manager processes window,I see FSS.exe and minitoolbox.exe processes when i launch the programs but the immediately disappear when fss and minitoolbox minimize to tray.

I am able to run FSS and Minitoolbox if I end wscript.exe process in task manager.

Do you need the logs of fss and minitoolbox when wscript.exe is not running?

Download Autoruns for Windows: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx
No installation required.
Simply unzip Autoruns.zip file, and double click on autoruns.exe file to run the program.
Go File>Save, and save it as AutoRuns.txt file to know location.
You must select Text from drop-down menu as a file type:

Re-run Autoruns, click on "Logon" tab and UN-check following entry:

+ "449b4.js"

Restart computer, re-run Autoruns, right click on the above entry and click "Delete".

Open Windows Explorer and delete following file:

- c:\users\koudikum\appdata\roaming\microsoft\windows\start menu\programs\startup\449b4.js

Restart computer and see if Avast still complains.

Couldn't find 449b4.js......

I found 4 .js files and interestingly 4 wscript.exe processes.I rebooted and avast complained again... I found one .js file 4698.js in autoruns and the location. Deleted it and on reboot, it recreated another .js file with another name and avast keeps on complaining.
