Mod Edit:  Split from http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/487670/oyodomo/#entry3012308 - Hamluis.

My computer has the oyodomo virus as well. I hope I can follow the instructions to remove it. Malwarebytes didn't find anything wrong, darn it, and after waiting several hours for a scan by software that was advertised as a free virus removal tool and specifically mentioned oyodomo, 482 threats were found. I was disgusted when the company demanded payment for removal,  even though it had advertised free removal, and I sure wasn't going to submit payment information on an infected computer.

So here I am.

I just ran Security Check and this is what it said in Notepad:

I had updated MalwareBytes and run a full scan that took several hours before visitng this forum, and no objects were found,.Following the instructions, I just ran a quick scan and Malwarebytes still didn't find anything, but I definitely have the virus. Here are the Malwarebytes scan results:

I was able to follow all the instructions until I came to the Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit. I downoaded it,  but it wouldn't open. I was asked what program I wanted to open it with, and asked if I wanted it to find software online. That didn't work, either. I had the same problem earlier today when I tried to download Windows Security Essenntials.

My computer is still infected. I just downloaded a free trial of Vipre, but after more than an hour of scanning, it still hasn't found the problem. I called a local tech support company, and they want $150 to remove it. I can't afford it. Spyhunter will remove it for $30, but I don't see how I can safely submit payment information from an infected computer. Does anyone know of any free removal software that will remove oyodomo.com? I've seen insructions for manual removal online, but I'm not a professional and don't want to mess with my resgistry where the 400 files of this virs reside.

Welcome Lumara

What browser(s) do you use?

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.
•Close all open programs and internet browsers.
•Double click on adwcleaner.exe to run the tool.
•Click on Delete.
•Confirm each time with Ok.
•You will be prompted to restart your computer. A text file will open after the restart.
•Please post the contents of that logfile with your next reply.
•You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.

thisisujrt.gif  Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
  • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
  • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right-mouse click JRT.exe and select "Run as Administrator".
  • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
  • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
  • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
  • Post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message.

I know the newxt step is to download Junkware Removal Tool but Vipre blocked it with the following message, so I'm afraid to. Is it really safe?

We created that tool here at BC . it is safe and used a 1000 times here. I see we need to advise Vipre that they are reporting a False Positive.

Can you tell Vipre to allow it?

If not I see we removed some infections that may be yours renamed.. Do you still see symptoms?

Although I followed the instructions for Vipre to allow that download, Vipre cominued to block it after several attempts, so I had to give up. However, I finally had time to get online again today, and after over an hour of internet searches, I didn't see one attempted redirect or any other inserted clickable links on any pages, so that one program I ran may have eliminated oyodomo.com.<THE CROWD CHEERS>.  :bananas:  I hope so, and I'll keep my eyes out for any other questionable activity.

Thanks a bunch! :thumbup2: I'm going to become a BleepingComputer fan on Facebook now, and then continue my online searches.

I've started to see some questionable activity again, so I fear I didn't totally eliminate oyodomo. When I do an internet search, part of a strange URL shows up on the tab as the page I'm visiting loads. It's not redirecting the page like before, but it isn't normal for a URL unrelated to the page I'm accessing to show up in the tab as the new page is loading, so that was my first indication that something is up. I also saw two clickable links to ads inserted on one of the pages as well. I ran AdwCleaner and CC Cleaner again, and I tried once again to download the Junkware Removal Tool, but Vipre continues to block it. I'm open to any suggestions...

Thanks!

There exists a possibility that the web page IS infected and that infection is being blocked. That's a good thing.

To look further on your machine we should run these.

This is pretty quick...

Please Download TDSSkiller
Launch it.
Click on change parameters-Select TDLFS file system
Click on "Scan".
Please post the LOG report(log file should be in your C drive)

Do not change the default options on scan results.

While this can be long.

Now I'd like us to scan your machine with ESET OnlineScan

  • Hold down Control and click on this link to open ESET OnlineScan in a new window.
  • Click the esetonlinebtn.png  button.
  • For alternate browsers only: (Microsoft Internet Explorer users can skip these steps)
  • Check "YES, I accept the Terms of Use."
  • Click the Start button.
  • Accept any security warnings from your browser.
  • Under scan settings, check "Scan Archives" and "Remove found threats"
  • Click Advanced settings and select the following:
    • Scan potentially unwanted applications
    • Scan for potentially unsafe applications
    • Enable Anti-Stealth technology
  • ESET will then download updates for itself, install itself, and begin scanning your computer. Please be patient as this can take some time.
  • When the scan completes, click List Threats
  • Click Export, and save the file to your desktop using a unique name, such as ESETScan. Include the contents of this report in your next reply.
  • Click the Back button.
  • Click the Finish button.

NOTE:Sometimes if ESET finds no infections it will not create a log.

I ran both programs. I couldn't find a log for TDSKiller, but t didn't find any threats. ESET did, though, and here are the results it reported:

Please run RKill.. How is it now?

Please download Rkill by Grinler and save it to your desktop.
  • Double-click on the Rkill desktop icon to run the tool.
  • If using Vista, right-click on it and Run As Administrator.
  • A black DOS box will briefly flash and then disappear. This is normal and indicates the tool ran successfully.
  • If not, delete the file, then download and use the one provided in Link 2.
  • If it does not work, repeat the process and attempt to use one of the remaining links until the tool runs.
  • If the tool does not run from any of the links provided, please let me know.
  • Do not reboot the computer, you will need to run the application again.
