Wireless internet randomly disconnects

Hey guys, I'm running an HP G62 with an i5 processor, 4GB ram, 500GB hard drive, Windows 7. No modifications whatsoever.

Last week I had the flu so I didn't touch my computer at all, I left it asleep (not shut down). It stayed like that for a good 5 days. Now when I turn it on, it randomly decides to disconnect from my wireless router's network. I know for a fact that this is a problem with my laptop and not my router because the other 3 laptops in my house connect fine and stay connected with no interruptions, as well as my Playstation and iPhone. It's just my laptop that randomly disconnects and reconnects every 2 minutes. Some jot notes about this and what I've tried:


- When it disconnects, the internet icon in the bottom right hand corner has the yellow triangle with an exclamation mark. It usually goes away and starts working again after about 5-10 seconds. Sometimes it stays and I have to manually disconnect and reconnect to the network.

- It's not a signal issue. I have never had signal issues in this room for years with this laptop. It gets 4 out of 5 bars of reception from the router. Plus, it still disconnects when I sit right beside the router.

- Already tried restarting the laptop many times.

- Updated, uninstalled, reinstalled the drivers for my wireless adapter. It's an Atheros AR9285 b/g/n adapter. I was running a driver from 2010 ever since I got this laptop a few years ago, and when I updated it to a 2012 driver, still doesn't work.

- Called my ISP and they changed the channel of my router and tried some basic troubleshooting with me over the phone, couldn't fix the problem. Even pressed the reset button on the router. Like I said, all other wireless devices in my house work fine with no disconnections.

- All windows updates are up to date.

- I'm not running a third party firewall.

- Tried a system restore from before the laptop was asleep for 5 days, still doesn't work.

- Already tried to "Diagnose" the problem in Windows' network settings, it can't find any issues.

- My network uses a WPA2-PSK security system and I'm positive the password is correct.

- In Device Manager, my wireless adapter is NOT set to turn off the adapter to conserve energy, so that's not it. Plus my laptop stays plugged into power.

- There is no speed issue with the other wireless devices in my house. They all run smoothly.



I'm completely stumped as to what could be causing this... it also sucks extra because I'm a graphic designer and smooth internet connection is extremely important for me. If anybody could help it would be greatly appreciated!

I see you have ccleaner installed please open it hit the tools button then the start up button and disable all items except Avira.


Open your device manager then left click your network adapters then right click and select uninstall for your Wireless driver.

Reboot your machine.
Hit start
Control Panel
NetWork & Sharing Center
Manage Network Connections
Right Click Your Connection
Select Properties
Un-Check Ipv6
Select ok






Run the Fix it below this remove the Tunnel Adapters from your machine.

The network still lost connection a few mins after the last restart and right before I posted this post. Yellow triangle with the exclamation mark in the notification area in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. Went away after like 10 seconds as usual.

Do these steps for every machine in the house so long as they are not running xp.
If you have an xp machine let me know.

Open your device manager hit the start button then right click on computer then select properties then select device manager.

In device manager, click the View menu and select Show hidden devices

Then hit view again and select devices by connection.



Then scroll down right click and uninstall the drivers listed below,dont worry these will be reinstalled upon reboot by windows.

Each of these files will request a reboot after uninstall wait until the last one to reboot.

Go here and set your hosts files back to default.(run the fix it as admin)

Hit windows key and r at the same time and type services.msc in the run box.
Scroll down to the computer browser service right click it select properties.
Then stop the service
Then change the start up type to disabled.

Reboot the machine.

The problem still occurs unfortunately

Do you have this check

Connect Automatically when this network is in Range
Connect even if the network is not broadcasting its name (SSID)

In the Network and Sharing Center>Manage Wireless Network>(Your AP profile) Right click and click properties.

Or you can redo the wireless profile by removing the profile and recreating it http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Setting-up-a-wireless-network
