Windows Update doesn't seem to be working for me, it's giving me an "unknown error" with the code above. I have tried Tweaking.com's Windows Repair Tool, but the same problem still arises. I'd be grateful for any help.

Coincidentally, when I try to install Microsoft .Net Framework 4, the same error code appears and the program refuses to install. Could it be related?

This may resemble the shotgun approach, but it may be worth pursuing.

Hmmm, I have not tried all the steps, but so far Fix It hasn't worked, although it claims it has solved the problem. Fix It Center Setup also refuses to install.

Update: SFC indicates there are some corrupted files, but it can't fix/replace them for some reason

Too long to post log, and the file seems to be too big to be attached. What should I do?

Go to this website and use the second option to determine which file/s could not be repaired and post it back here.

Please download FarbarServiceScanner and run it on the computer with the issue.
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/farbar/FSS.exe

Make sure the following options are checked:
Internet Services
Windows Firewall
System Restore
Security Center/Action Center
Windows Update

Press "Scan".
It will create a log (FSS.txt) in the same directory the tool is run.
Please copy and paste the log to your reply.
