Having just registered I've been asked to provide an introduction to this large and extended family. I came here while looking for a solution to a problem I've been having with my old Windows XP laptop; it won't run a Windows Update. I think I found the solution here - the laptop may be infected by the NETBT.SYS root kit.
I'm a long time computer user, starting back in the early 70's with a Polymorphic Poly88 and progressed through an IMSAI, several homebrew boxes, and on and on. That led to about 30 years in computer tech support, computer operations, and computer systems management. Now I'm retired and use my computers mostly for recreation and education. My most recent foray has been into the world of Android tablets, first with an ASUS Prime and more recently an ASUS Infinity.
I look forward to sharing what I know with all of you, and even more to learning from y'all.
Mike
